When the Puget Sound Chapter, NECA was established in 1949, it was one of many local Chapters in a growing national organization committed to organizing and advocating for electrical contracting companies.

The Dawn of an Industry
Edison introduced the lightbulb in 1879, and with it, the new field of electrical construction. As the industry expanded, it became clear that an organization was needed to standardize manufacturing specs and professional competency, provide management training, and lobby for laws regulating the trade.
